About
My name is Dr. Briana Komar. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I received my BA in Comparative Literature from Georgetown University. After college, and prior to receiving my medical degree, I lived abroad in France and Ireland for several years, where I pursued an interest in the culinary arts and nutrition—working as a food writer and cheesemonger—an interest which I passionately pursue to this day.
Shortly after returning to the United States, I resumed my education. After completing my premed requirements at Columbia University in New York, I received my MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine, and completed a residency in psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. I received my fellowship in integrative psychiatry at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, an educational organization offering the most comprehensive evidence-based training in integrative psychiatry in the nation.
I believe that it is my duty as a psychiatrist to never stop learning, and to ceaselessly pursue knowledge of new treatment modalities through continuing education. Integrative psychiatry is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field, and I strive to remain on the vanguard through my lasting studies.
